Standard Cubic Zirconia vs. CARAT* Diamond Simulants?
Fake Diamond, Counterfiet Diamond, Diamond Simulants call them what you want, the bottom line is that it is not a Diamond. However, not all are created equal, and there are many branded diamond simulants on the market. Expert knowledge of cutting and polishing natural diamond tells us that you will not find a better alternative than CARAT* on the market.
If a Diamond Simulant is to stand the ultimate test you must be able to impress professional Diamond dealers at arms length, which we have done many times over. At arms length most will say they can't be sure, they will then ask if they can use a 10x magnification loupe. If they are professionally trained they will be able see that CARAT* Simulants and Moissanite for that matter, are not Diamond.
The ingredients for an excellent quality Diamond Simulant lay mainly in the following production and quality control procedures:
Selection of high quality rough material, meaning that low grade raw material is not used and only the cream of the crop goes to the cutting wheels. CARAT* Diamond Simulants are made with the best rough on the market. Poor quality Simulants usually come from non sterile production environments. This results in poor clarity rough crystals that result in low color grades and poor clarity stones. Our rough is produced in an ultra clean environment using ultra refined raw materials.
- Superior cutting techniques yielding perfect stone proportions. This produces a stone that refracts and reflect light in an ideal way. Poor quality cutting yield facets that appear too rounded, affecting the overall brilliance and scintillation of the stone. We cut by hand taking 20 times longer than inferior machine cut stones.

- Complete polishing of all facets. This creates a clean looking stone with ultra clear facet lines when viewed from all angles. The milky or cloudy effect that you see in many inferior CZ stones is usually a result of poor polishing. We polish each stone by hand not forgetting the crown and pavilion facets that are notoriously left unpolished leaving a less than perfect stone.
